Abstract: There is a unique balance between modern fascists that selectively deny facts (calling them fake news) and science and those who worship science replacing it with religion. The Islamic wisdom tradition uses science as a complement to revelatory sciences. Science as a two-edged sword could destroy or bring comfort and convenience or devastation and disruption. There is definite place for science in Islam if it is anchored in compassion, conscience, integrity, inclusivity, and ethical principles and values. Muslims and Arabs have contributed greatly to all sciences (the hard- and difficult sciences) and civilization without editing out the sacred. The use of the latest technologies and sciences alone are not a gaurantee for peace, humanity, empathy, and dignity to all; too often, the most scientifically advanced nations orchestrated the worst human disasters; some writers have, therefore, written about the myth of progress.
